This evening, I was quickly getting together a dinner of leftovers for LJ and myself. Jesse has a late night on Wednesdays, so he doesn't eat with us. So I don't cook ;o) Well, Lily was spending some alone time in the pack n play...screaming...like always. When all the sudden I heard...quiet. Quiet?? Can this be???

And this is what I saw when I peeked around the kitchen counter. She had FINALLY looked inside the cool box at the cool toys. This is how our conversation went.

"Hey, Momma, did you know there are cool toys in here?"
"Yeah, Baby, I put them in there just for you. They were there all last week. And all this week. And this morning."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"I tried, but you were being hysterical. And you don't really communicate verbally with me yet...so clear communication is difficult."
"Oh. Well, thanks for the measuring cup. I love you!"
"You're welcome, Baby. And I love you. Hey, does this mean you're going to give up the screaming every time I put you in here?"

And that's when we stopped talking and ate. So who knows what she would have answered. I guess I'll find out tomorrow! :o)

I'm wearing the pumpkin-orange nail polish that Jesse got me. Pumpkins. Did I mention I'm becoming obsessed? Hmmmm. Pumpkins.

  1. Good job Jess -
and love these conversations you two are having!
and btw, can't go wrong with pumpkin!

  2. You are such a great mom, Jess! Please tell miss Lilly she is sooo smart to look in the box. Good things come in boxes. All of us get excited still when the UPS guy drives by-unfortunately it is almost always for the neighbors....Anyway, I also loved the "mug shot" from the previous post and applaud you for being spontaneous.
