Realizations

I was giving Lily a bath the other day and was just thinking about things. Then it sort of hit me...I live in Mississippi.

WHAT?

And my husband is in the United States Air Force.

WHAT??

And I'm getting ready to have my second baby in 13 months.

WHAT???

It's so weird...last year at this time I was getting our apartment in South Corning ready for my Lily-bear to be born. Jesse was unemployed but applying for the Air Force...he may have even already been in DEP (Delayed Entry Program) at that point, but I can't remember. I know he didn't have a ship date for Basic, yet. So things were pretty uncertain...but we were excited and enjoying our time before baby.

And this year I'm in a completely different part of the country...getting ready for Sammy-girl. Wow. A lot can happen in just 12 short months! I'm making new friends, experiencing completely new things, and learning what it means to be an Air Force family. I live five minutes from the beach. I'm taking walks every morning in 70+ degree weather...wearing shorts and t-shirts still. I periodically battle cockroaches.

I'm learning to be okay with less time with my husband...learning to make the time we do have together sweet. I'm learning how to function far away from family and friends. I'm re-learning how to manage with only one car :o) I'm learning that it's kind of nice to be at home with your girl all day...even if *sometimes* you can't wait for nap times so you get a break from her! ;o)

And most of all, I'm looking back over the past year and realizing that God is faithful...he is good and kind. He's answered so many prayers. He's quieted so many fears. He's smoothed so many bumpy roads. He's been a comfort and peace in this transition. He rocks.

*Tears of gratitude*

  1. Someone here was just marveling at how much can happen in a year too...how much God can do.
And it's pretty amazing, for sure.
