Frühlingfest Part 2

Parade time!  They kick off the next day by marching through the town at the butt-crack of dawn with the bands... to wake everyone up?  I don't know what kind of shenanigans they get into after that, but there's a parade in the afternoon so we were all about that!  The weather was not very Spring-like at all... but we were well prepared with many layers and blankets to combat the alternating rain/wind and sunshine! :o)

Cold German beer and a fresh German pretzel!  This was pretzel number one or two for the day... they're awesome!  So good, apparently, that I always forget to snap a pic *before* they're halfway gone! ;o)

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs! :o)

These baby "trees" are stuck in the ground all along the street!

Unicycles.

Smart cars.

Sweet little dogs watching the parade!

Some more *unique* displays :o)

They toss some pretty good stuff into the crowd, too!  LJ got a rose, candy (mostly we got the candy cause a lot of it was hard), and a balloon.

Then the final band came and everyone followed them up into the woods for the real party!

Alright, stay tuned for more... I've got video, too! :o)  But unfortunately I have to have a life besides blogging today, so you'll just have to wait!  Gotta do some kitchen cleanup and then after lunch the girls and I are off to the Vogelweh Commissary for groceries.  Rumor has it that they're bringing in produce from the States to supplement the European Commissaries... and though I'm trying to eat more local/fresh/in season, etc. I really am desperate for a tomato!  So for once I hope the rumors are true! :o)
