Ten Fun Facts About Otterberg's Pool

1.  It's only a 20 minute walk from our house.  And a very pretty walk, when it's a nice sunny day :o)

2.  It's a "natural" pool... so there are no chemicals in it (and probably lots of little kid pee ;o) but that's normal for public pools, right?) and it's kind of mucky water, but not so much so that it grosses me out.  The bottom is stone and brick that feels kind of slimy from the algae and such.

3.  It's one of the locals' favorite summer hang out spot.  And now that we're actually experiencing a little bit of summer, we decided to join them!

4.  It's really cold water!

5.  Lily hates it.  This was only our first time going, so we aren't giving up :o)  But she whined and cried and clung to Jesse for dear life the whole time we were in the water.  Sam loved it, though!  (Except for when I misjudged the distance of her face from the water on a "bouncy-bouncy-splash" and nearly drowned her... Mommy of the Year.)

6.  It cost us four euro.  Seemed pretty reasonable, but I haven't been to a public pool in the States in years... what's the going rate back home?  Anyone?

7.  It's really pretty on a sunny day!

8.  It felt like one of those perfect Saturday afternoons.  Sunshine.  Family.  Sunshine.  Getting Jesse to walk somewhere with me.  Sunshine :o)

9.   I want to go back!

10.  You can find the rest of the pictures from the day (and other days) in my August Facebook album.

  1. Love all the shots you got! Lily is wearing Nat's old bikini. Oh the memories! :) Here in Corning, the public pools cost $2 for adults and $1 for kiddos. Even Allie costs $1. In my Mom's town, it's $5 for ea kid/adult. Crazy. And ew to the water. No chemicals? So the nastiness just stays in the stagnant water...forever? I'll recycle, plant a garden, use plant based cleaning products, but I'll gladly swim in chemicals any day! ;) I'm glad you had the perfect family outing. I love when family dates go well. Having quite a few fails under our belts now makes us REALLY appreciate the good ones. I'm sure you know what I mean. ;) Love all the shots you got! Lily is wearing Nat's old bikini. 2. LOL Nicole I was like "wow she wrote me a huge book" then I realized some technologically-weird thing happened and you just wrote me two small books ;o)

Aw now whenever LJ wears the suit I'll think of you... (Most of the time I have no clue who gave us what!) It was really a perfect day for pictures. I love the sun flare :o) And haha yeeees we definitely know what it's like to have "family outing failures", though it's usually not the kids who aren't playing nice ;o)

  3. Yeeeah, I don't know what my crazy phone did there. :)

And yesh, same goes for us...it's usually not the kids. Or it might be the kids for like 3 minutes and that makes my mood change and I end up ruining our family time. Thankfully, by God's grace, I'm (slowly) learning to just grin and bear it! I don't want my kids memories to be "Oh yeah, I remember that trip, Mom was so mad because..." lol.

  4. "Mom was so mad..." Yep. That pretty much sums it up right there :o) What is that God says about being slow to take offense? I suck at it ;o)
