Cloudy with a Chance of MORE CLOUDY

The weather is pretty dreary in Germany this time of year.  The trees are no longer bright and colorful... there isn't snow (yet)... and it's cloudy.  All. the. time.  Don't let this beautiful picture I took last week deceive you.  Yes, the sun sometimes makes brief appearances, but for the most part it is cloudy.  I think the boys at our dear old weather squadron call it "low ceilings".  I call it depressing.

But I'm not actually depressed, yet.  The holidays are here so there's much to look forward to in the next two months.  But once January hits, I'm probably going to need to actually look into some vitamin D or something.  I'm much more "solar-powered" (thanks for the term Kirsten!) these days than I once was.  I've said it before and I'll say it again: Mississippi sunshine in December RUINED me!  I used to be a hardy upstate New Yorker who was pretty used to dreary weather for half the year.  But now?  Now I'm a whiny baby when the sun doesn't shine.

And here in Germany we have two week stretches of clouds.  And then.  THEN THE SUN COMES OUT!  And I run for my camera.

And these pictures of happy, sunny moments get me through the next two week stretch of clouds ;o)  I'm feeling seriously uninspired to take pictures lately because of the lack of sun.  But I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and use it as an opportunity to stretch myself.  I much prefer the "delicious light" (thanks for the term Jen!) of sunshine... I think it makes for much more charming photography.

But as there is a serious lack of delicious light in Germany from November to March, I'm going to have to get used to it. Or maybe research a good flash for my camera.

Moving on.  I decided to have some fun with the girls on this particularly sunshiney late afternoon last week.  I let them stand on the furniture (a usual no-no) so that I could try my hand at some fun silhouette shots.

Miss Wiggly-Do-Da was less cooperative than her big sis, but I was still happy with the results.  That last one of Lily is my favorite.

So there is my most recent batch of sunny-pics.  I promise not to wait another two weeks before picking up my camera again.  Just because the sun's not out doesn't mean I can't enjoy my photography!
